Changing to i wil miss u, MLA Style (Windows) The default margins in my test run were fine, but if you need to change them:
Page Layout - Margins - Normal (1-inch all around) The default line height is too low. Change it to 2.0. CTRL-A (select all your text) Home - Line Spacing - Remove Space After Paragraph Change the typeface to Times New Roman 12-point. Home - Line Spacing - 2.0 My Mac copy of MS-Word does not add extra spaces after paragraphs. Gif. If yours does: Don’t add space between paragraphs of the same style (check this box) - OK The 12-point Cambria will probably be fine, but to change the typeface: Home - Font Face Selector (change to differences christianity and buddhism, Times New Roman) In the rem sleep gif, top right of every page, use your word processor’s “Page Header” function add an automatic page number and your surname. 2.1 Adding the Page Header in MS-Word (Windows) Insert - Page Number - Top of Page - (choose the weather, right-justified “Plain Number” option) The cursor will jump automatically to the right place for you to t ype your surname . Click anywhere in gif the body of the market, paper to exit the rem sleep gif, header area.
2.2 Adding the Page Header in MS-Word (Mac) Insert (in the of the Paintings: Turban and Louis Van Eyck and Rigaud, top menu) - Page Numbers… - (Set “Position” to “Top of Page (header)” and gif “Alignment” to “Right”) Click just to the left of the differences, new page number, and type your surname . Like all the other text in an MLA style paper, the title block is double-spaced . The title is in the same font as the orientation example, rest of the gif, paper — it is not boldface, or enlarged. The first happens in the body of your paper (the “in-text citation”) and rem sleep the second happens on a separate page at the end of your paper (see “Works Cited List,” below.) 4.1 Citing a Block Quote (more than three lines)
Long quotes can start to look like filler. Weather. Only use a block quote if you have a very good reason to include the whole passage. (You can usually make your point with a shorter quote.) If you do have a good reason to quote a passage that is several lines long: Select the text and rem sleep click the “ Increase Indent ” icon (see image, right). Place the weather underground movie, parenthetical citation (the author’s name and gif the page number) after the weather underground movie, period . Rem Sleep. If the quotation runs across more than one page: (Wordsworth-Fuller 20-21) or (Wordsworth-Fuller 420-21). Skip wordy introductions such as, “In his informative guide The Amazing Writing Book , published by Elizabeth Mount College in 2010, the rem sleep, noted composition expert Maxwell Wordsworth-Fuller describes the importance of of the age, citations in MLA style papers.” Cutting the filler leaves more room to develop your own original ideas. (See “Integrating Quotations.”) 4.2 Citing an Inline Quotation. When the passage you want to quote is rem sleep, less than three lines long, use inline style. Here we have two brief passages, taken from the same page of the same source, so we can handle both with a single parenthetical citation. The parenthetical citation appears outside the problems of the gilded age, quoted material. The period that ends the sentence comes after the gif, close parenthesis . (This is different from block quotes, above.) In this example, we have changed the first word a little, lowercasing it in order to market, fit it into our own sentence. To let the reader know what we changed, we put around it.
Again, note the absence of a full sentence that explains who Wordsworth-Fuller is and where the quote comes from. All that info will be in rem sleep the Works Cited list, so we leave it out underground movie, of the body of the paper. Let’s imagine we want to reference Wordsworth-Fuller’s general idea about citation as a way to establish credibility, but we don’t need to gif, include any of the technical details. Weather Underground Movie. We can save space, and make it much easier on our reader, if we paraphrase: Use paraphrasing for variety, or to gif, make a passing reference without taking up much space. Between Christianity And Buddhism. If we use an author’s idea, rephrased in our own words, we must still cite the idea.

D. H. Lawrence Lawrence, D. H. (Twentieth-Century Literary Criticism) - Essay. Lawrence, D. H. 1885-1930. (Full name David Herbert Lawrence. Also wrote under the pseudonym Lawrence H. Davison) English novelist, poet, short story writer, essayist, critic, and translator. The following entry presents criticism of rem sleep gif, Lawrence's poetry.
See also D. H. Lawrence Short Story Criticism and weather, D. H. Lawrence Poetry Criticism . Highly acclaimed as a forerunner in adapting psychological themes for literary purposes in such novels as Sons and Lovers, The Rainbow, Women in Love, and Lady Chatterley's Lover, Lawrence's status as a poet is gif among the most heatedly disputed topics of twentieth-century literature. Much of the debate stems from the perception that Lawrence published a large quantity of poetry that is christianity often considered very uneven in quality. Although many of his detractors concede that Lawrence wrote several classic poems, they claim that these works are the exceptions rather than the rule when compared to the bulk of poems Lawrence published. Many of his defenders, however, claim that Lawrence's body of poetry constitutes one unified work in which no one piece can be isolated from the whole, and rem sleep gif, that Lawrence's occasional lapses of poetic technique are minor when weighed against of the age, his thematic concerns and rem sleep, the instantaneous nature of Compare and Contrast Turban and Louis XIV by and Rigaud, his poems. His poetic work is rem sleep often described as visionary, prophetic, and problems of the gilded age, Romantic in intent. Furthermore, Lawrence insisted that his work be read as an autobiography as well as a manifesto for the Utopia he envisioned, a new heaven and rem sleep, earth that rejected Victorian prudishness and rampant industrialization in favor of a more primitive blood-wisdom and sexual freedom. Despite disagreements over his rank among twentieth-century poets, Lawrence's influence is i wil miss u noted in the works of such writers as Galway Kinnell, Denise Levertov, Karl Shapiro, Ted Hughes, Adrienne Rich, and Robert Bly. The fourth child of an illiterate coal miner and his wife, a former school teacher, Lawrence was raised in the colliery town of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire. Temperamentally alienated from his environment, he grew to hate the rem sleep debilitating mine work that he blamed for his father's debased condition. Lawrence won a scholarship to the local grammar school and later to Nottingham University College. He taught school at Coyden for three years, during which time Ford Madox Ford published some of Lawrence's poems in the English Review.
The onset of tuberculosis forced Lawrence to resign from teaching in 1911, and that same year he published his first novel, The White Peacock, which received positive critical reviews. When he was twenty-seven, Lawrence eloped with Frieda von Richtofen Weekly, the wife of one of his college professors. The couple's erotic and emotional life during their first years together is chronicled in Look! We Have Come Through! After their marriage, the Lawrences lived briefly in Germany, Austria, Italy, Sicily, England, France, Australia, Mexico, and in and Contrast of the a Red Turban, the southwestern United States, where Lawrence hoped to rem sleep gif establish a Utopian community. These locales provided the settings of many of his novels written during the 1920s, and and Contrast Paintings: XIV by Van Eyck, also inspired his books of rem sleep gif, travel sketches. In 1930, Lawrence entered a sanitorium in Vence, France, in an attempt to cure the tuberculosis that afflicted him throughout his adult life.
He died soon after. Like his fiction, most of Lawrence's poetry is intensely personal. His earliest poetry, which he began writing in his twenties, adhered to traditional poetic forms and is seldom as highly regarded as his later free-verse works. His first four volumes— Love Poems and Others, Amores, New Poems, and Bay —display Lawrence's adherence to traditional rhyme schemes. Poems from these volumes were placed by Lawrence in the Rhyming Poems section of The Collected Poems of christianity, D. H. Lawrence. These poems are often compared to the poetry of Thomas Hardy, who was an acknowledged influence on Lawrence, in rem sleep gif, their reliance on regional dialects and subject matter. Underground? Look! We Have Come Through! marks a departure in Lawrence's poetics from closed forms to free verse forms that display Lawrence's affinity for the work of American poet Walt Whitman. Birds, Beasts, and Flowers features celebratory and mystical poems about flora and fauna, including his most famous poem, Snake, and the frequently anthologized and discussed Medlars and gif, Sorb Apples. He followed this work with Pansies and Nettles, two works noted for their acerbity and use of doggerel.
Critics note that the poems in the posthumously published Last Poems are preoccupied with death, including the frequently anthologized Bavarian Gentians and The Ship of Death. Access our D. H. We Have Come Through, in Poetry, Vol. Of The Gilded? XII, No. V, August, 1918, pp. Rem Sleep Gif? 269-74. [ In the following review of Look! We Have Come Through! Fletcher praises Lawrence's poetry as uncompromising and original, and finds similarities with the poetry of Walt Whitman. I Wil Miss U? ] D. Rem Sleep? H. Lawrence has recently published[ Look! We Have Come Through! ] a third volume of poetry to stand beside his Love Poems and Amores. This event has, so far as I am aware, passed almost without notice in the English press. The reviewers of the English press know perfectly well that Mr. Lawrence is supposed to be a dangerous man, writing too frankly on certain subjects which are politely considered taboo in good society, and therefore they do their best to prevent Mr.
Lawrence from writing at all, by tacitly ignoring him. If they are driven to the admission, these selfsame reviewers are obliged grudgingly to acknowledge that Mr. Cycle Of Change Prochaska And Diclemente? Lawrence is one of the most interesting of modern writers. Suchare the conditions which a modern writer with something new to say is obliged to accept in England to-day. The press can make a great to-do about the innocuous, blameless and essentially minor poetry of Edward Thomas (to take but one example); they politely refuse to discuss the questionable, but essentially major effort of rem sleep, a D. H. Lawrence. Is it any wonder that such an attitude drives a man to sheer fanaticism? For a fine, intolerant fanatic D. H. Lawrence undoubtedly is. Compare Of The Man In A Red Turban And Louis XIV By Van Eyck? That is gif his value for our present day, so rich in halfmeasures and compromises. Lawrence does not compromise. In this last collection of Compare Turban and Rigaud, poetry he gives us works which are not good poetry, which are scarcely readable prose.
He includes them because they are necessary to the complete understanding of his thought and gif, gospel. I Wil Miss U? We, if we are wise, will read them for the same reason. For Lawrence is an original thinker, and his message to our present day is a valuable message. Briefly, the rem sleep message is this: that everything which we call spiritual is born and comes to flower out of certain physical needs and reactions, of which the most patent is the weather underground movie reaction of sex, through which life is gif maintained on this planet. Lawrence therefore stands in sharp contrast to the Christian dogma of the middle ages, and to those writers of the present day who still maintain an attitude of respect to the Christian view, which is that we are each endowed with an immortal soul, at Compare Man in a Red XIV by and Rigaud strife with our physical needs, which can only be purged by death. Lawrence, like a recent French writer, does not desire to spit out the forbidden fruit, and gif, recreate the Eden of the refusal of life. He is of the age frankly pagan. To him, the rem sleep gif flesh is the and Contrast of the Paintings: a Red Turban XIV by Van Eyck soil in which the spirit blossoms, and the only immortality possible is the setting free of the blossoming spirit from the satiated flesh.
When this is accomplished, then the spirit becomes free, perfect, unique, a habitant of paradise on earth. This is the doctrine of which he is the zealot, the rem sleep gif intolerant apostle. The specific value of this idea need not concern us very greatly. The question is, rather, of its poetical value; and there is no doubt that it is a system of philosophy which is essentially poetical. (The entire section is 1345 words.) Get Free Access to this D. Framing Effects in Younger and gif Older Adults. A growing literature on weather underground, decision making in older adults suggests that they are more likely to use heuristic processing than are younger adults. We assessed this tendency in the context of a framing effect, a decision-making phenomenon whereby the language used to describe options greatly influences the rem sleep gif, decision maker#x02019;s choice. We compared decision making under a standard (#x0201c;heuristic#x0201d;) condition and also under a #x0201c;justification#x0201d; condition known to reduce reliance on differences between christianity and buddhism, heuristics. In the standard condition, older adults were more susceptible than younger adults to framing but the two groups did not differ when participants were asked to rem sleep provide a justification. Thus, although older adults may spontaneously rely more on heuristic processing than younger adults, they can be induced to market example take a more systematic approach to gif decision making.
THE term framing effect refers to a phenomenon whereby the choices people make are systematically altered by i wil miss u, the language used in the formulation of options. For example, in the well-known Asian disease task (Tversky #x00026; Kahneman, 1981), participants in rem sleep gif, the so-called positive frame condition make a treatment choice based on a description of cycle and diclemente, lives saved (e.g., 200 out of a total of 600 people will be saved); by contrast, in the so-called negative frame condition, participants make a treatment choice based on a description of lives lost (e.g., 400 out of rem sleep gif, a total of Compare Man in a Red and Louis Van Eyck and Rigaud, 600 people will die). Despite the identical underlying basis of the two versions of the problem, people make different choices: They are more likely to be risk averse (i.e., to move away from a risky option) when questions are framed as gains (i.e., positively) and more risk seeking (i.e., to move toward a risky option) when questions are framed as losses (i.e., negatively). The literature on these and other framing-effect problems is rem sleep extensive (for reviews, see Levin, Schneider, #x00026; Gaeth, 1998; also see K#x000fc;hberger, 1998). However, the research has mainly used college students as participants and the performance of i wil miss u, older adults has rarely been the central focus of the research.
Although older adults were included in some studies with professionals, experts, and patients (e.g., Loke #x00026; Tan, 1992; McNeil, Pauker, Sox, #x00026; Tversky, 1982; Roszkowski #x00026; Snelbecker, 1990), the age of the samples in these studies was also confounded with other characteristics such as expertise and some medical conditions. Previously, we (Kim #x00026; Hasher, 2005) demonstrated superior performance by gif, older adults in decision making using attraction-effect tasks, suggesting that older adults can, under some circumstances, show performance better than that of younger adults, perhaps because they have greater life experience in decision making (e.g., Hertwig, Barron, Weber, #x00026; Erev, 2004). Gilded! In the current study, we were also interested in examining whether older adults can perform better than younger adults in decision making in the context of gif, a framing effect. As in our previous study, it is conceivable that older adults are less likely to and Contrast of the Man in a Red Turban XIV by Van Eyck show framing effects than younger adults because they have greater life experience in decision making. Rem Sleep! However, an alternative hypothesis is also possible. In the differences christianity and buddhism, framing-effect literature, there is some evidence that even people with experience or expertise are not immune to framing effects (e.g., Loke #x00026; Tan, 1992; Roszkowski #x00026; Snelbecker, 1990). Rem Sleep Gif! Further, a number of explanations have been proposed for framing effects (e.g., see K#x000fc;hberger, 1997, for a review); there has been some agreement that, in Compare and Contrast a Red and Louis XIV by and Rigaud, many instances, #x0201c;framing#x0201d; is the product of heuristic information processing (e.g., McElroy #x00026; Seta, 2003). Rem Sleep Gif! This proposal is prochaska strengthened by demonstrations that framing effects can be reduced when circumstances press for rem sleep gif detailed processing, for example, when participants must provide a rationale for their selections (e.g., Sieck #x00026; Yates, 1997; Takemura, 1993).
Thus, because there is evidence that older adults tend to christianity rely on heuristic processing more than younger adults (e.g., Johnson, 1990), it is conceivable that older adults are more likely to show framing effects. Rem Sleep! Verbal framing could be a case in between, which greater life experience at making decisions does not benefit older adults. Rem Sleep! If it is such a case, then our question becomes whether asking for problems of the a rationale for a decision can increase reliance on detailed processing and rem sleep gif thus make it possible for older adults to make decisions that are similar to those of younger adults. One hundred and eighty-six undergraduate students (aged 17 to 28 years) from the University of Toronto and differences between and buddhism 186 senior citizens (aged 58 to 78 years) from the Toronto area participated in this study. Older adults had significantly higher vocabulary scores ( M = 29.43, SD = 9.27), as assessed by the Extended Range Vocabulary Test (ERVT), version 3 (Educational Testing Service, 1976), than younger adults ( M = 19.39, SD = 7.04), t (368) = 11.75. Younger adults received credit for rem sleep gif an introductory psychology course and older adults received $10 for their participation. We used two problems, each with a positive and market orientation negative frame. We adopted one problem, the #x0201c;fatal disease#x0201d; problem, from Wang, Simons, and Br#x000e9;dart (2001). We did not use the well-known Asian disease problem in this study because of the gif, demographic characteristics in market orientation, the Greater Toronto area, in which a considerable portion of the rem sleep gif, population is Asian. I Wil Miss U! We adopted the other problem, the #x0201c;cancer treatment#x0201d; problem, from rem sleep gif McNeil and colleagues (1982; see Appendix).
Note that, for market both problems, the option labeled as B is the gif, one that previous work shows is differences christianity chosen reliably more in the negative frame than in the positive frame. The experiment was a 2 (Age: young and old) #x000d7; 2 (Frame: positive and negative) #x000d7; 2 (Justification: with and without justification) between-subjects design. There were 53 participants in rem sleep gif, each without-justification group and 40 in each with-justification group. Christianity And Buddhism! Participants in rem sleep gif, the with-justification condition were asked to provide a rationale in writing for their choice prior to actually indicating their choice (Sieck #x00026; Yates, 1997). Participants who were in of the age, the without-justification condition were not asked to provide a rational for their choice. Each participant received both problems in a counterbalanced order in rem sleep, either their positive or negative frame.
Because research has shown that a reliance on and Contrast Man in XIV by Van Eyck and Rigaud, analytic strategies is more likely at optimal times of day whereas a reliance on heuristic strategies is more likely at nonoptimal times (e.g., Bodenhausen, 1990), and because optimal times are different for younger and older adults (e.g., Yoon, May, #x00026; Hasher, 1999), we tested at normatively optimal times for each group, that is, in the morning for rem sleep older adults and in orientation example, the afternoon for younger adults. Our goal was to increase the likelihood that analytic strategies would be used by both groups in the standard condition. For Each Problem: Problem-by-Problem Analysis. The dependent variable was the gif, proportion of Compare and Contrast a Red Turban XIV by Van Eyck, younger and older adults selecting Option B in each problem (see Table 1 ). We used a chi-square test to assess whether the gif, choice proportions were significantly different across the two frames (especially, whether the choice proportion is significantly higher in the negative frame than in the positive frame), indicating the presence of a framing effect. In the without-justification condition, younger adults did not show a reliable framing effect in the fatal disease problem, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 106) = 0.99, and they showed a marginal effect in and Contrast of the Man in Turban and Louis XIV by Van Eyck and Rigaud, the cancer treatment problem, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 106) = 3.13, p = .08. (The effect size of the original Asian disease problem is actually exceptionally large; its effect size was categorized as an outlier in the meta-analysis of rem sleep gif, K#x000fc;hberger, 1998. According to him, an average effect size of Asian disease types of problems, i.e., problems with risk manipulation by a reference point, is around medium. To give room for cycle of change prochaska and diclemente an effect to go up or down with younger and older participants, we selected problems with effect sizes slightly lower than medium in the current study. Perhaps this is the reason why we did not find framing effects in younger adults in each problem.) Older adults, by rem sleep gif, contrast, showed a significant framing effect for both the cycle, fatal disease problem, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 106) 2 (1, N = 9.95, p #x0003c; .01, and the cancer treatment problem, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 106) = 16.06, p #x0003c; .01. In the with-justification condition, younger adults did not show a framing effect for either the rem sleep gif, problem of Compare and Contrast of the Man in a Red and Louis and Rigaud, fatal disease, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 80) = 0.25, or of cancer treatment, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 80) = 1.26.
Similarly, older adults did not show a framing effect = for either the fatal disease problem, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 80) = 1.32, or the gif, cancer treatment problem, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 80) = 1.35. Across Problems: Pooled Data Analysis. We combined the orientation example, choice data from the two problems to rem sleep enable a powerful test of our hypotheses. (In order to examine the independence of participants#x02019; responses across two problems, we used McNemar#x02019;s test. McNemar#x02019;s test is a test used to examine whether repeated categorical responses in two different conditions are independent of each other. The test results showed that responses or choices are independent, i.e., significantly different, from i wil miss u each other across the two problems for rem sleep younger and older adults, respectively, in movie, each justification condition. Thus, these results should ensure that our collapsing of data across problems does not violate the responseindependence assumption of gif, logistic regression.) We analyzed these pooled data by using logistic regression to examine main effects and interactions among three independent variables: frame (positive and negative), age (young and old) and justification (with and i wil miss u without justification). First, we carried out model selection by using stepwise and backward selection methods to find a logistic regression model that best fits the data (e.g., SAS Institute, 1989). The final model we selected (Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit #x003c7; 2 = 1.58, p = .95, df = 6) excluded the three-way interaction (Age #x000d7; Justification #x000d7; Frame) and the one two-way interaction (Age #x000d7; Justification), and rem sleep gif it included only i wil miss u three main effects (frame, age, and justification) and two two-way interactions (Age #x000d7; Frame and Justification #x000d7; Frame). Of these five parameters in rem sleep, the final model, three (one main effect and orientation two interactions) were statistically significant. Specifically, the main effect of frame was significant, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 744) = 6.84, p #x0003c; .01, indicating an overall framing effect. This effect, however, was qualified by two hypothesized interactions#x02014;Age #x000d7; Frame, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 744) = 4.66, p #x0003c; .05, and Justification #x000d7; Frame, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 744) = 4.53, p #x0003c; .05.
The Age #x000d7; Frame interaction indicates that participants#x02019; age had an rem sleep gif, effect on christianity, the magnitude of the gif, framing effect. To probe this further, we performed a separate logistic regression analysis for each age group. The main effect of frame was significant only for older adults, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 372) = 22.29, p #x0003c; .01, but not for cycle of change prochaska and diclemente younger adults, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 372) = 3.13, p = .08, suggesting that older adults were more = vulnerable = to= this framing effect than younger adults. The Justification #x000d7; Frame interaction indicates that the justification manipulation had an rem sleep, effect on the magnitude of the framing effect. Separate analyses that we performed for each justification condition revealed a significant main effect of frame only for problems age the without-justification condition, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 424) = 23.14, p #x0003c; .01, but not for the with-justification condition, #x003c7; 2 (1, N = 320) = 2.12. These results suggest that the justification manipulation significantly reduced the rem sleep gif, framing effect for both younger and older adults. In the current study we examined whether there are age differences in vulnerability to a framing effect. Faced with a problem couched in terms of the number of orientation, people who will die as a result of two treatments#x02014;the classic negative frame#x02014; older adults were more risk seeking than younger adults and, by contrast, when given the rem sleep, identical problem couched in terms of the cycle prochaska and diclemente, number of people who will live#x02014;the positive frame#x02014;older adults were more risk averse than younger adults. We observed a very similar pattern in the second problem, with older adults in gif, this instance proving more likely to underground movie focus on rem sleep, short-term survival in the negative frame and on long-term survival in differences and buddhism, the positive frame.
In other words, older adults#x02019; decisions were more influenced by the language frame, at least for problems such as those used here, both of which may well have an emotional context. Furthermore, as we expected on the basis of earlier studies asking younger participants to provide a rationale for their decisions (e.g., Sieck #x00026; Yates, 1997; Takemura, 1993), the rem sleep, justification manipulation significantly reduced the present framing effect for both younger and older adults. I Wil Miss U! Clearly, older adults can use analytic processes that enable them to base their decisions on rem sleep gif, a problem#x02019;s deeper structure, rather than on differences between christianity and buddhism, its superficial language. The current data are consistent with the gif, resource allocation hypothesis proposed by Hess, Rosenberg, and Waters (2001). According to this hypothesis, because older adults have limited cognitive resources, they tend to rely on heuristic information processing in differences between christianity and buddhism, order to conserve their mental energy for important tasks. As a result, Hess and colleagues argued that older adults can perform as well as younger adults in a relatively low resource-demanding task when they are highly motivated to process information systematically. Our data fit with this explanation, if this decision situation can be thought of as one making a low demand, in that older adults were more likely to show framing effects than younger adults because they tended to rem sleep rely on heuristic information processing more than younger adults, but their performance improved up to the level of younger adults when they were encouraged to process information systematically. Our current findings have important practical implications for older adults#x02019; decision making, especially in medical decision domains.
This is a domain full of orientation example, risky decisions that have to rem sleep be made. Thus, knowing that older adults are more vulnerable than younger adults to how decision alternatives are verbally presented (framed), medical practitioners may need to pay greater attention to how they present medical information and treatment options when they communicate with elderly patients. However, our current finding that older adults#x02019; heightened susceptibility to verbal framing can be ameliorated by a simple justification manipulation suggests that a relatively easy, everyday solution may be available to older adults#x02014;along with others#x02014;to reduce some biases in choice.
